THE YEAR IS 2030. IN A DRAMATIC, final attempt to free her inner demons, twenty-year-old Daniela Delgado tempts fate and winds up on a strange farm in 1923. With an olive complexion due to her Mexican/Italian heritage and a fresh pixie cut, she is mistaken for a “boy of color.” Her only shot at survival now is to play it cool, pose as “Danny,” and figure out how to get back home to her two, loving moms. And then she meets Daphne—an abused, motherless farm girl in desperate need of freedom and a friend. Having escaped Daphne’s father, the two of them are now roaming the streets of New York City disguised as a young aristocrat and her male servant. They’re running out of money, and ideas. And Daniela thought living in 2030 was tough. But her solar powered smart phone works. And there’s someone within range. She pings them. A selfie of an attractive male comes in with the text I’m Lain. Who the f--- are you? Even in that moment, Daniela knows this can’t be safe, but what are her choices? They meet Lain at a speakeasy on the Lower East Side. When Daniela reveals her last name, Lain says the only Delgado he knows is Anaya—the head of the Santa Muerte Coven of witches in Merida, Mexico. And then he hints that Daniela is a liar, even though she rocks a man’s three-piece suit like no woman he’s ever met. And as for her tattoos? Don’t get Lain started…. Despite the intrigue, Daniela adds Lain to the list of folks Daphne and she must outrun to stay alive. But as they plan their trip to Mexico, they soon discover that list is much longer than they thought. And they uncover a few other things, too, about Daniela’s true identity….

Santa Muerte (The Daniela Story) (Volume 1) Lucina Stone 9780996990820 Books Reviews

This book wad excellent! I couldn't put it down! From the first page I was hooked! The author keeps you wanting more and more! Daniela's struggle is so interesting you can't help but want more and I personally can't wait for the next book!
Im never good at finishing a book but this one really caught my interest. I finished it and look forward to the next book. It has a good latin culture mix vibe with spicy adventure. I truly enjoyed it.
I loved the premise of a failed attempt at suicide brings a depressed girl back one hundred years in time to old NYC. She discovers her past and present and comes to terms with her sexuality and high rank in the society of the occult! A great read!
This was really great! It's the first time I could relate to a character who was multicultural and had gay moms. It even included depression and its a story about moms and daughters and the main character was relatable and funny. It was also spooky in parts and I really liked the paranormal parts in the story. Overall great, its going to be hard to beat.
this is a well thought out beautifully written tale that dwells between the real and fantasy worlds. Lucia Stone writes with great clarity, purpose and strength. Her characters are believable and lovable even though they inhabit a world of witches, time-traveler and all sorts of other remarkable supernatural creatures. This entree into the Daniella's world will leave the reader thirsting for the next instalment in what promises to be a riveting series of novels. Brava Lucina!
What a great book! I loved how the characters and plot pulled me in right at the beginning and I couldn't stop reading after that. Seriously loved the time traveling sci-fi/fantasy story line. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
This is a fresh take on fantasy/scifi! It is multi-layered and not just
because it deals with time travel. The book takes you to near future New
Jersey to 1920s New York City, to a village in the Yucatan. If you are
interested in any of the following, you’ll enjoy this book the application
of technology in science fiction, strong female characters, mysticism and
witchcraft. It covers many complex themes concerning identity and
psychology mental health, race, family relationships, coming of age, gender
and sexuality. All of that said, it’s intelligent and thoughtful with a lot
of heart and is far from stuffy!
I bought this book on a whim. The first dozen or so pages didn't really hold my interest and them BLAM! I could not finish this book fast enough. I am hungry for more Daniela!

Does anyone know when book 2 will be published?
